In this Level 3.5 (Intermediate Advanced) String Orchestra arrangement, Martin Lass has arranged the first movement of Mozart's Symphony No. 29 (K201) for intermediate to advanced student string orchestra.
In this orchestral reduction for string orchestra, key wind and brass parts have been incorporated into the strings or otherwise omitted if they are merely doubling what the strings are already doing. Interpretation markings such as dynamics and articulations such as might have been done in the mid- to late-18th century (Mannheim school) have been added at the arranger's discretion. In addition, some inner parts have been minimally edited and a dedicated contrabass part has been added. Other than these changes, the music is as Mozart wrote it.
Players should attend well to the articulations, dynamics, and other markings in order to give this piece the graceful yet spirited feeling that it is meant to convey, remembering that contrasts are everything.
